"The supposed killer shot himself, it's a student in the fourth year who was studying at the college". The committee said all the victims have died of gunshot wounds, contrasting with previous statements by other officials saying they had wounds resulting from an explosion.

The blast took place in the city of Kerch. Russian state television showed video of military armored vehicles driving rapidly towards the college.

They said the attack had started with an explosion, followed by more blasts, and a hail of gunfire.

"Then a strong explosion went off, but thank God, I was already outside and saw our guys being thrown out of the windows by the explosive wave", he said, adding that part of the building collapsed.

The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed that on its website on October 17 that Roslyakov's body had been found in one of the classrooms of the college.

Peskov said Putin has instructed investigators and intelligence agencies to conduct a thorough probe and offered condolences to the families of the victims.

The Tass news agency reported that most of the victims were students, quoting local ombudswoman Lyudmila Lubina.

Another student, Semyon Gavrilov, told the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper that he saw "a young man with a gun walking around shooting everybody" and hid in a classroom.

The committee's spokeswoman, Svetlana Petrenko, said 13 people were killed and about 50 were injured. Security on the bridge was tightened after the attack, RIA Novosti reported.

Olga Grebennikova, the college's director, told Crimean media outlets outside the college that someone had blown themselves up inside the college and that the bodies of children were everywhere.

Crimea, officially part of Ukraine, was seized by Russian Federation in 2014 and annexed after a disputed vote that was widely condemned by the global community.

The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, and Russia's health minister, have headed to the area. Russian Federation has also supported separatists who are fighting the Ukrainian government in eastern Ukraine, a conflict that has killed at least 10,000 people since 2014. No group claimed responsibility for that attack, but Russian security forces said it was the work of an Islamist radical.
