The company launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in Southern California.

The California-based aerospace manufacturing company founded by Elon Musk launched its Falcon 9 rocket Sunday evening.

After Falcon 9's fireworks, booster B1048 managed a stunning return to Landing Zone 4 (LZ-4), giving local observers a nice triple sonic boom.

The 30th Space Wing says residents may see multiple engine burns by the first stage and there may be one or more sonic booms.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying an Argentinian satellite has blasted off from California.

Proving out a successful booster retrieval system on the West Coast marks another step in SpaceX's drive to increase rocket reusability and as a result drive down the cost of access to space. There's no specified launch window, and that could force SpaceX to move liftoff to October 11th if it has to scrub the launch on the 7th. The second satellite will be SAOCOM 1B. It, too, found success in landing at a new site north of Los Angeles.

Senator Toomey Statement on Proposed US, Mexico, Canada Trade Agreement
Canada has also agreed to allow more USA products into their dairy market, which is controlled by a national quota system. But not everyone is happy! "But these are great deals for our nations and great deals for our workers", he said.

The launch is scheduled for shortly after 7:20 p.m., Vandenberg Air Force base officials said in an advisory.

The 3,500-lb. (1,600 kilograms) SAOCOM-1A satellite was developed by Argentina's national space agency, which is known by its Spanish acronym CONAE. The satellite is created to provide radar imagery to help emergency responders and monitor the environment, including the collection of soil moisture measurements.

The Saocom-1A launch places SpaceX one mission away from tying its record of 18 launches in one year, set in 2017.

The satellite is the first of two that will be used for emergency management and for land monitoring.
