  • Roy Moore Suing Sacha Baron Cohen Over His 'Who Is America' Appearance

Former Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore was one of the more notable guests on the show but things didn't end entirely well for him by the end of the segment.

The lawsuit claims Moore was invited to Washington, D.C., "to receive an award for his strong support for Israel in commemoration of its 70th anniversary as a nation state".

Moore faced sexual misconduct and underage sex accusations during last year's Senate race in Alabama. He denied the allegations.

The lawsuit was filed in the Washington, D.C. federal court.

When the device beeped, Moore stopped the interview and said: 'I've been married for 33 years.

According to The Associated Press, "Larry Klayman, founder of the conservative group Freedom Watch, is representing Moore and his wife Kayla in the lawsuit".

Moore, a former Alabama Supreme Court judge, has also included CBS and Showtime in the $95 million suit over his appearance on the American network's 'Who Is America?' program.

Scenes of joy as India finally decriminalises gay sex
But lawmakers failed to take action and in July the government told the Supreme Court to give a ruling in the case. The judges in the case had previously said that gay people in India faced deep-rooted trauma and live in fear.

The lawsuit asks for $95 million in punitive and compensatory damages.

Another episode led a Georgia state representative to resign after he shouted racial slurs and exposed his rear end in a supposed anti-terrorism self-defense drill. Cohen played various characters on the show while interviewing politicians and public figures.

Cohen tells Moore that "sex offenders, and particularly, pedophiles, secrete an enzyme" that is about "three times the level of non-perverts" that can be detected, adding that authorities in Israel have developed a "machine" that is now used in schools and playgrounds that detects the when the enzyme is present.

While Moore signed a release for the interview, the case alleges that release itself was fraudulent.

Previously, even before the show had aired, Moore had issued a statement, conceding he had been pranked by Baron Cohen's "trickery, deception and dishonesty."

Moore's lawyer wrote that as they trying to stop the segment from airing, "defendants CBS, Showtime and thus Cohen were informed that the release that Judge Moore had signed was obtained through fraud, and was therefore void and inoperative".

The complaint says: "Defendant Cohen's character falsely and fraudulently introduced a false and fraudulent "device" supposedly invented by the Israeli Army to detect paedophiles".
