  • Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL Launch Reportedly Set for October 4

Five months after the first Android P Developer Preview was released, Google has officially unleashed Android 9.0 Pie. You need to have a Pixel running Android 9 Pie - which shouldn't be a problem since the over-the-air rollout of the update is in full swing already.

"And when you put in headphones after work, you may see options to call your mom or start your favorite Spotify playlist". Instead of a trio of buttons along the bottom of the screen, each one representing a different navigation method, Android 9 Pie uses gestures. Now, the final build of Android 9 is out, and it's called Pie. It brings AI-powered features, new navigation gestures, and more.

If you don't recall, Google announced during this year's Google I/O that as part of an initiative surrounding digital wellbeing, it made a new platform that would be available inside of its next version of Android.

Devices that were enrolled in the Android Beta program will also be getting the Pie update "by the end of this fall". You can scroll left and right through all of the apps that show up here, and when you want to open one, either tap on it or slide down on it as if you're dragging it to the bottom of your phone. This suite of features includes a timer that can shut off access to an app after you've used it for too long and a "wind down" mode that slowly shifts your screen to monochrome when it's time for bed.

Rotation: Get more control over your phone's display rotation with a simple button that confirms when you'd like to change the rotation on your device - even when your orientation is locked.

Public health officials warn of increased West Nile activity
According to World Health Organisation, there is one reported case of transplacental (mother-to-child) WNV transmission. People with weak immune systems or older than 60 are more at risk of the falling ill to the infection.

Android 9.0 Pie is official, rolling out to Pixel phones today!

Among the other upgrades is a new "Adaptive Battery" system, which promises to help your phone save battery life by better restricting idle apps that run in the background.

Offer actions in apps based on your previous activities - for example, suggest a route to work during your morning commute.

Soon after, you'll get an email with an invite to begin testing digital wellness. Google said the "Digital Wellbeing" features, which help users manage their smartphone addictions by monitoring how much time they spend in apps, will not be released to general availability until later this year.
