You couldn't get on social media Tuesday without seeing Team Yanny and Team Laurel going at it. The middle consonant is definitely not an n, Sanker said, but you might hear one because the vowel in front of it sounds particularly nasal.

As always, when there's disagreement on the internet, everyone remained calm and respectful.

"I messed with the audio file and discovered that basically, the lower frequencies say "Laurel"," Twitter user Jacob Livesay said.
