Vegas Golden Knights Make NHL History with Playoff Sweep vs. Kings

19 April, 2018, 02:03 | Author: Lamar Ellis
  • The Vegas Golden Knights just swept a playoff series, as an expansion team

In doing so, the Golden Knights became the first NHL, MLB, or National Basketball Association team to sweep a best-of-seven series in their inaugural season.

The Knights completed a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, shutting out the Kings 1-0. Karlsson and Reilly Smith set up Brayden McNabb's game victor against his former team to give the Golden Knights a first-round sweep over the Kings.

McNabb, who spent part of four seasons in the Kings' organization has just 12 goals in 314 career games, nearly half of which came this year with Vegas.

The Knights poured into the net to hug Fleury at the final horn.

"So, is Fleury still the Golden Knights" x-factor? The Kings simply had no clue as how to beat him or get through the Vegas defense. "We just do what a regular team would, we just play the game and try to win".

Mark Scheifele scored both of Winnipeg's goals, including an empty-net tally with 11 seconds to play as the Jets built a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. In the expansion draft, he was brought to Vegas as a three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Pittsburgh Penguins. "LA put on the pressure on him but he was huge for us".

Japan and China denounce protectionism, vow to safeguard free trade and multilateralism
Flirting with the idea of returning to the TPP could be part of Trump's efforts to pressure Japan into bilateral talks. Beijing responds with vehemence to the US hike in tariffs over imports of steel and aluminum.

"He has carried our team a lot". The rest of the team, much like Fleury, is made up of undrafted players that other teams didn't protect last season. "He's a big part of our group". That series is a little different. Without an uptick in their presence on the offensive side, the Kings will not have a chance. The Kings were vastly outplayed.

When this most remarkable expansion team needed a third-period goal to accomplish another incredible feat, their dependable veteran forward skated in on Jonathan Quick and got it with a flick of his wrist.

The high-scoring Boston Bruins, who pounded the Toronto Maple Leafs with 12 goals (including four goals and five assists from first-line winger David Pastrnak) to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round series, are No. 2 this week. But the Kings have a roster full of Stanley Cup-winning experience, including players who were on the 2014 team that overcame an 0-3 first-round deficit to the San Jose Sharks.

Though the Kings may be down 3-0, all hope is not lost.

Quick stopped 23 shots, but the Golden Knights' three-goal flurry doubled their goal total against the former Conn Smythe Trophy victor from the first 201 minutes of play in this series. At this point, is it Stanley Cup or bust for Vegas? Obviously this is awesome, you know, but it's playoffs.
