Student activists are set to continue their push for an end to gun violence on Saturday, as thousands are expected to join the March for Our Lives organized in cities across the country and world.

More than 150,000 students in the USA have experienced a shooting on campus since the Columbine High School massacre in 1999, according to a Washington Post analysis.

Although the Washington march was bankrolled by left-leaning celebrities including Oprah Winfrey and George and Amal Clooney, students who survived the Parkland shooting, students directly affected by gun violence have been its faces.

More than 4,000 people on social media indicated interest in San Jose's march and rally, scheduled to begin at 11 City Hall and to proceed down Santa Clara Street for a rally at the Arena Green on W. St. John Street, organizer Hiwad Haider said.
