The two Koreas have decided not to have a joint march at the opening ceremony of the PyeongChang Winter Paralympics, the South's Korean Paralympic Committee (KPC) said Thursday.

80 countries around the world are sending their athletes to compete in the games, to be held from March 9 to 18 with over 670 athletes, including more female athletes than ever before, having the chance to show their skills after years of hard work and training.

Some of these athletes may also make their way into the BC Sports Hall of Fame, like B.C. Paralympic silver and gold medalist Josh Dueck, who is being inducted later this year.

In January, the IPC reiterated that the ban would be maintained throughout the PyeongChang Games, despite the International Olympic Committee's announcement last week that Russia's Olympic membership has been reinstated.

The IPC then decided that it did not want any further debate on the issue and recommended the two Koreas march in separately at the PyeongChang Paralympics opening ceremony, according to the KPC.

A South Korean delegation is now en route to the U.S. and is expected to pass on a message from the North's leader, Kim Jong-un.

Ukraine is lucky in Pyeongchang experienced athletes only six athletes to the Games in South Korea will debut in his career.
