  • Swansea boss Carlos Carvalhal feels the controversial VAR system has the capacity to work

The VAR system was once again the centre of attention during Tottenham's FA Cup replay win against Rochdale on Wednesday night as several decisions prompted confusion and controversy.

'It's a massive thing for us to be through to the quarter-final of the cup, ' Ayew said.

'If we can have something that helps the referees to take a better decision I am happy to see it in a good way.

"The main competition for us is the Premier League, but we will have a week to prepare for the quarter-final, which is important, and we are near now".

"We have 90 minutes to try to get Wembley (for the semi-final) so let's see what happens".

Swansea ran out convincing winners at the Liberty Stadium thanks to goals from Jordan Ayew and Nathan Dyer.

Dyer then settled the contest against his manager Carlos Carvalhal's former club with 10 minutes remaining, slipping the ball through goalkeeper Cameron Dawson's legs after being played in by Tammy Abraham.

"1964 is a long time ago, I know because I was born in '65", Swansea's Portuguese manager Carvalhal told the BBC. "Now we will play either Rochdale or Tottenham at home and we could go to Wembley, so we are in a very good position".

"I think we deserved the win, but Sheffield Wednesday did well in the two games".

'I believe West Ham's season is below their expectations, but we have to do well in our home games'.

"We felt after a couple of minutes that we could score and we did that".

Kristoffer Nordfeldt parried Jacob Butterfield's swerving shot from outside the area just before the half hour and the Swansea keeper reacted sharply to keep out Jordan Rhodes' diving header from Lucas Joao's cross.

Now that the Owls have exited the Emirates FA Cup, they will be able to focus their attentions on surviving relegation from the Sky Bet Championship. Both sides had two or three good chances to score.

"Swansea made the goal and we could not come back into the game to get the goal to make it 1-1".
