After a record-breaking debut, "Black Panther" continues to beat expectations at the box office, bringing in a stellar $108 million in its sophomore weekend.

Well this past weekend the film did it again, smashing more records and moving T'Challa and company closer to billionaire status.

Domestically, it finished President's Day with $40.2 million, the largest Monday box office receipts of all time, topping previous record-holder "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ($40.1 million). Surpassing Marvel's Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, Black Panther has earned the title of Marvel's 10th highest grossing film. It also showed only a 47% drop in its second weekend, which is a much smaller drop than other Marvel films such as "Captain America: Civil War" and "The Avengers: Age of Ultron", which were closer to 60%.

Interestingly, the film hasn't opened in China yet.

Benitez: Shelvey miss cost Newcastle three points against Bournemouth
His ball across goal was poorly dealt with, allowing Gayle to arrive and punish them with a cheeky back-heel finish. Gayle's first-half double had put the visitors in complete control, before the Cherries fought back.

The Marvel venture starring Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan has proven to be a hit with both critics and fans (check out our review here). That's a more-than-solid opening for any comedy, much less a comedy dealing with "Black Panther" mania. Overseas, Game Night launched to $5.2 million from 22 markets for a global bow of $22.2 million.

Imax, which is playing "Black Panther" in more than 60 countries, said people are paying to see the film a few times, a quality that the biggest of the big movies share.

Annihilation came in fourth behind Sony holdover Peter Rabbit, which took in $12.5 million in its third weekend for a domestic total of $71.2 million. Orion insiders say that's a win, considering the film cost under $5 million to produce. Angourie Rice, Justice Smith, Debby Ryan and Maria Bello star.

Fifty Shades Freed round out the top five with $6.9 million. Updated with foreign numbers.
