President Donald Trump asked top military brass to plan a parade to showcase the United States' military might, à la the display he saw on Bastille Day in France a year ago, according to the Washington Post. Those who are comparing Trump's potential military parade with the Tiananmen Square standoff.

"We don't need a puffy parade to show the world we can fight". He also suggested the president could visit Fort Bragg, where Reed served when he was in the Army.

News of Trump's proposed parade spurred a range of reactions, with several Republicans and Democrats alike raising concerns about the millions of dollars that would be incurred transporting military equipment to the nation's capital at a time when the military's top brass have been lobbying Congress for more military funding.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed the request to the military.

"President Trump is incredibly supportive of America's great service members who risk their lives every day to keep our country safe", Sanders said.

The Washington Post reported that Trump has expressed interest in such a parade since before he took office but grew more committed when he witnessed the Bastille Day celebration in France, which featured a large military parade.

This US media is reporting that President Donald Trump has ordered the Pentagon to stage a grand military parade in Washington this year to celebrate US military strength and prowess.

Among their objections: Military parades have traditionally been the hallmarks of totalitarian regimes, appearing in the parade would be an unwelcome distraction for rank-and-file servicemembers and it would make it seem like the military is promoting the president and not serving the Constitution.

He also lauded his government's initiatives claiming that Karnataka is the first in starting multi-sector start-up policy. Since Ramakrishna Hegde in 1985, no other Chief Minister has pulled off the uphill task of coming back to power.

President George H.W. Bush held a military parade in Washington on June 8, 1991, to mark victory in the Persian Gulf War.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Trump said that part of his "Make America Great Again" agenda included showing off the us military's might.

Mr Trump has long floated the idea of holding a parade to show the US's military might, but he has apparently now issued a directive to make his dream a reality.

"We're too great a nation to be participating in these types of things", Duckworth said when asked about Trump's parade. "Sadly, the Giant Tank Parade is cancelled".

Pentagon spokesman Charlie Summers said Tuesday that Trump asked for the military parade, adding that the planning process was in its "infancy".

"I would describe it, Dana, as a collective eye roll from military leaders who I have spoken to", Griffin said.

Funds for a parade could drain resources that could have otherwise been allocated for the military's other needs.
