Carter Page Who Once Bragged About Advising Kremlin Backtracks

Page, who advised the Trump campaign on foreign policy, became the subject of a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant that the Federal Bureau of Investigation sought due to claims made in the Steele dossier which said a Russian official offered Page billions of dollars to pressure the Trump administration to lift sanctions against Russia.

The memo alleges the unverified anti-Trump dossier - funded by the Clinton campaign and the DNC - was the driving force behind the warrant to conduct surveillance on Page.

Page said Friday the memo revealed "misdeeds against the Trump Movement".

"We were part of an informal group", Page said, adding that they had met several times all over the globe.

"Now that a few of the misdeeds against the Trump Movement have been partially revealed, I look forward to updating my pending legal action in opposition to DOJ this weekend in preparation for Monday's next small step on the long, potholed road toward helping to restore law and order in our great country". The FBI was tracking Kremlin spies trying to recruit Page, then an energy investor traveling frequently to Russian Federation for business.

In an interview Tuesday, Carter Page said there was "no basis" for the FIB's surveillance of him, which he believes violated the constitution.

He also lauded his government's initiatives claiming that Karnataka is the first in starting multi-sector start-up policy. Since Ramakrishna Hegde in 1985, no other Chief Minister has pulled off the uphill task of coming back to power.

The letter was sent during a dispute about edits on a manuscript Page had written. Page denied that the Russian Federation trip was in his capacity as a campaign adviser. Page says he had subsequent similar meetings, describing them to TIME as "really plain-vanilla stuff".

Page's extensive Russian contacts again became a focus for investigators in 2016 and a warrant was obtained under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to surveil him.

Here's video I found of Carter Page saying he had been in a number of meetings with Trump & that he had learned a tremendous amount from him.

In 2013, Page met with Russian diplomat Victor Podobnyy at an energy conference in New York, Time reported, citing court documents.

The New York Times, meanwhile has requested that the government turn over underlying documents that could show exactly what the warrant was based on. "He struck me just as someone who had developed some odd academic views ... and wanted to have them published", the editor says.

"I just came to see him as a kook", the editor says.
