Twitter may notify users whether they were exposed to content generated by a suspected Russian propaganda service, a company executive told USA lawmakers on Wednesday. This is a continuation of the investigation that started previous year, and Twitter says that "through our supplemental analysis, we have identified 13,512 additional accounts, for a total of 50,258 automated accounts that we identified as Russian-linked and Tweeting election-related content during the election period".

That brought the total number of such Russian Twitter accounts to 3,814.

Twitter is sending emails to 677,775 people in the USA - letting them know they may have retweeted, followed, or liked a propaganda account linked to the Russian government during the election. Twitter had previously said during a hearing in October 2017 that 2,812 troll accounts were IRA-linked.

In a Friday blog post, the social media giant said it plans to inform 677,775 people who, over the course of the 2016 presidential "election period", followed, liked, or retweeted accounts "potentially" connected to the now infamous Internet Research Agency.

Twitter on Friday said the number of Russia-linked accounts firing off tweets evidently aimed at the U.S. election in 2016 was more widespread than initially determined.

Russian Federation has denied meddling in the 2016 presidential election. It has also suspended the accounts behind the tweets.

WhatsApp targets small businesses with new United Kingdom app launch
Another feature is the ability to access WhatsApp Business messages on desktop , which is important for enterprise customers. Unfortunately, there's no mention of an iOS version of WhatsApp Business app , but it will probably come later on.

Twitter says it will warn hundreds of thousands of tweeters who deliberately or inadvertently interacted with Kremlin bots during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. All tweets weren't pro-Trump, anti-Hillary or even relevant to politics or election.

The company said that it found another 13,512 accounts that engaged in what it believed to be "automated, election-related activity originating out of Russian Federation".

"Such activity represents a challenge to democratic societies everywhere, and we're committed to continuing to work on this important issue", it said.

Going forward, Twitter says it will invest in more ways to limit "fake, coordinated and automated account activity".

In addition to other findings, Twitter said it discovered 13,512 accounts engaged in what it believed to be "automated, election-related activity originating out of Russian Federation", bringing the total number of such accounts to 50,258. However, these appear to be non-IRA accounts and it's unclear if people who interacted with these automated bots will also be receiving a cautionary email from Twitter.
