  • Andrew McCutchen trade: Giants, Pirates have trade in place for All-Star outfielder, per reports

On June 4, 2009, center fielder Andrew McCutchen made his Major League debut for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

A return for McCutchen has not been revealed, but Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reported top prospects Tyler Beede, Chris Shaw and Heliot Ramos were not involved in the trade.

Andrew McCutchen, the face of the franchise, is now heading West as the Pirates have agreed to trade their longtime center fielder to the San Francisco Giants, a source close to the situation has informed FanRag Sports. This deal also comes on the heels of Pittsburgh sending ace starter Gerrit Cole to Houston over the weekend.

After nine fabulous seasons in Pittsburgh that saw McCutchen become a five-time All-Star, a four-time Silver Slugger Award victor, a Gold Glove victor in 2012, and National League MVP in 2013, his tenure in Pittsburgh has come to an end.

Ford Ranger: It's Back
Ford isn't providing power figures yet, but says the 2.3 will be on par with competitors' V-6s and offer 4-cylinder fuel economy . Altogether the Ford Ranger should be received very well and will make an impact on the already competitive mid-size truck market.

Then 2016 he had an odd down year as he slashed.256/.336/.488 with 24 home runs in 153 games.

McCutchen has spent his entire career in Pittsburgh, much like Evan Longoria did with the Rays. He's on the last year of his six-year, $51.5 million deal; the Giants will only be paying $14.5 million.

The inevitable promotion of Austin Meadows will help soften the blow of losing McCutchen for fans in Pittsburgh. It's unlikely the Giants will make any other big moves following this deal. Expect the Giants to land one of those three. Though AT&T Park is not the most hitter-friendly park, he can still be productive in the bay.

McCutchen's contributions at the plate should outweigh his poor defense, which makes this trade a logical move for a Giants team that aims for big improvement in 2018.
