It's as crisp and vibrant and lovely as the rest of the company's OLED portfolio, only it's that extra bit thinner, allowing it to be rolled down (kinda like a projector screen flipped on its head). The reason for this is the use of OLED or organic light emitting diode display. Then you can fully extend the TV, which is better for watching content in a more traditional format.

LG has unveiled its new rollable television. The South Korean major has already announced a slew of products, including an 88-inch 8K TV, which it will be showcasing at the CES 2018.

If you've dreamed of rolling up your television and stuffing it into your backpack, LG is moving rollable OLED displays even closer to your dreams.

This all sounds great in theory, but a demonstration given by LG at CES fell short on a couple of occasions. Right now LG doesn't have a launch time frame set it looks like, and there's still no word on what these TVs will cost, but they probably won't be low-priced. That's why a strong holiday season and some new big-screen products can move the needle for this company - taking share prices along for the ride. It revealed its 88-inch 8K TV, alongside the new ThinQ software, a week before CES kicked off.

In fact, LG said the secret to the foldable display is the paper thin OLED panel itself. The bottom part that accommodates the display when rolled down is also least impressive but can still serve an important goal, that of housing the speakers or other related stuff.

Surveillance act passed despite Trump 'abuse' tweet
His tweets came shortly after a " Fox and Friends " segment that highlighted the FISA program. Trump in his tweet suggested that the law might have been used to spy on his campaign.

The wider implications of this technology are for the mobile space, however, especially since word got out about Samsung aiming to release a tablet device based on this type of display tech during 2018/19.

Three impressive TVs and a giant tablet announced in just hours but we will likely see more soon. Samsung is yet to make a mark in the particular segment.

At CES this year, LG's new innovation - a rollable 65-inch 4K TV display prototype has been introduced.

Crystal Sound OLED also in development to emanate sound from OLED panels.
