Bolivia Slams US 'Clumsiness' at UNSC Meeting On Iran Protests

Some demonstrators have called for the government's overthrow. And Iranian Ambassador Gholamali Khoshroo - whose country isn't a Security Council member but was invited to participate Friday - said the protests had gotten "direct encouragement by foreign forces including by the president of the United States".

But Russia and Iran complained tartly that the USA was dragging a council focused on global security into what they called a domestic matter.

US Ambassador Nikki Haley warned Iranian authorities on Friday that the world is watching, as thousands held pro-government demonstrations in Iran following anti-government protests, in which over 21 people were killed.

While the Obama administration flew in freights of cash and wired back billions of dollars to the terrorism-exporting Iranian regime, the Trump administration has declared full-throated support of Iranian protesters clamoring for freedom and has now slapped on additional sanctions.

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif ridiculed U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday over what he called the foreign policy "blunder" of trying to raise its recent protests at the UN Security Council.

Echoing Iran's concern that the demonstrations were fueled by outside powers to promote regime change, Bolivia reminded world powers that "unilateral action, political interventionism, and regime change only ever lead to devastating humanitarian, social and economic consequences".

Nottingham Forest v Arsenal (Sun)
Speaking to reporters, the veteran Frenchman said, "I will rotate a little bit because we come out of a very high loaded period". The FA have taken a dim view of Wenger's withering censure of Dean, but Nottingham Forest have at least seen the amusing side.

U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley argued the unrest could escalate into full-blown conflict and drew a comparison with Syria.

Furthermore, U.S. -allied France and the United Kingdom defended the the Iran nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran's nuclear program, and noted Iran's compliance. The CIA declined to comment. "It is a powerful exhibition of courageous people who have become so fed up with their oppressive government that they are willing to risk their lives in protest".

I agree with Roger Cohen that the Trump administration "should stop berating the nuclear deal".

The U.S. imposed new sanctions Thursday on five Iranian entities over their involvement in developing ballistic missiles.

Iran signed a nuclear deal with the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China in 2015, easing sanctions in exchange for curbs to the country's nuclear programme. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said more sanctions "targeting human rights abuses are coming".
