FCC chairman proposes repeal of net neutrality regulations

Before the FCC voted to repeal net neutrality in December, chairman Ajit Pai made numerous public appearances aimed at contemptuously mocking those who disagree with his proposals-that is, the vast majority of Americans.

The sources didn't make public details about the threats, but they told Recode that "federal law enforcement had intervened in the matter".

Rolling back the net neutrality regulations is one of the most controversial policy changes under the Trump administration. He had to halt his controversial vote to scrap the U.S. government's net neutrality rules in December after a bomb threat.

Yesterday, CES announced that FCC Chairman Ajit Pai would no longer be appearing at the trade show where he was scheduled to take part in a conversation with FTC Chairman Maureen Ohlhausen.

Pai suddenly cancelled his appearance at the major tech industry conference CES on Wednesday. An agency spokesman declined to comment, citing security concerns.

Korea offers to talk with North on Olympics co-operation
This, Kim said, was "irreversible with any force", making it impossible for the United States to start a war against North Korea. We welcome the fact that North Korea strongly hinted at its willingness to improve inter-Korean relations in the New Year.

On Thursday, Shapiro told Digital Trends that Pai did not tell him why he was canceling his appearance, but speculated that his decision had to do with his personal security.

This isn't the first time FCC officials have received threats related to the move.

All too predictably, the FCC's order has been subjected to a seemingly endless stream of groundless attacks by pro-regulation advocates who claim consumers will be left unprotected by the Commission's action. His name has become near-synonymous with the rollback of net neutrality protections of the internet, a decision that is unpopular among many consumers because of the power it gives internet service providers to create so-called "internet fast lanes", and to establish paid prioritization among companies that can afford it.

Recode reported that Pai's fellow FCC commissioners - Democrats Mignon Clyburn and Republican Commissioners Michael O'Rielly and Brendan Carr - plan to attend the Las Vegas-based show.
