On Friday night, bodies of the six victims from the bloody attack arrived at the district's archbishopric for the official funeral, covered with Egyptian flags and were received by their families, while a number of official figures were present.

Security forces reportedly shot and killed one of the attackers who was carrying an undetonated explosive belt after an exchange of fire and another was arrested. Gerges said he was walking in a nearby street when the shooting happened.
