  • Ronsford Beaton has represented West Indies in two ODIs

West Indies failed to cope with the bowling of Trent Boult as New Zealand sealed the One-Day International (ODI) series with a game to spare by scoring a 204-run victory in the second match on Saturday.

Windies have already lost the three-match series against the well-equipped Kiwis and will be playing for pride in the final game ahead of the T20Is.

West Indies were bundled out for just 121 runs as Boult produced his career-best figures.

Cottrell, playing his first worldwide in nearly three years, also took two early wickets to finish with 3-62, while West Indian skipper Jason Holder, with whom he shared the new ball, dismissed Taylor and New Zealand captain Tom Latham to finish with 2-52.

Jason Mohammad (18) and Holder (13) did try to resurrect the innings but were undone by Lockie Ferguson (3/17) who plucked out the middle with three wickets in 10 deliveries.

In the absence of star batsman Chris Gayle, who withdrew from the match with an unspecified illness, Windies were immediately in trouble when Boult ripped through the top order.

Henry Nicholls was not out 83, George Worker made 58 and Ross Taylor 57.

The West Indian fast bowlers made good use of the short ball throughout most of the innings, and looked to be in control after reducing New Zealand to 186-5 with 17 overs to go before Nicholls went on a late surge.

Nicholls's 83 came off 62 balls and included two sixes and seven fours, as New Zealand finished on 325 for 6 in 50 overs. Ashley Nurse (27) did play a hand down the order but by that time it was nearly over for the Caribbeans. As per ICC regulations, Beaton can continue bowl until the test results of his action arrive, which means he can participate in the third and final ODI in Christchurch on December 26.
