Emirates Will STOP All Its Flights To Tunisia From Today

Tunisia has suspended all Emirates Airlines flights to and from the North African country.

The Tunisian Ministry of transport has chose to suspend trips flights from and to the North African country "until the company has been able to find a suitable solution for the operation of its flights in accordance with global laws and treaties" - an official statement on Facebook said.

Many Tunisian social media users slammed the move, accusing the UAE of discrimination against women.

On Friday, Emirates Airlines had said that based on a directive from the UAE government, female Tunisian nationals would be denied entry to UAE, either for visiting or transit and therefore Tunisian women would also not be allowed to board Emirates Airlines flights towards Dubai.

On Friday, the Tunisian government added that it had asked the UAE ambassador to clarify what was happening and had been told that the measures were temporary and had already been lifted.

"We should avoid misleading attempts". They called on the Tunisian authorities to take diplomatic measures to reverse the UAE decision, which they described as "thoughtless" and against all diplomatic norms and procedures of worldwide transport.

Tunisia's foreign ministry called for the envoy on Friday in the wake of the sudden ban on Tunisian women entering the UAE, the state-run TAP news agency reported. A protest was scheduled outside the UAE's embassy in Tunis later in the day.

Emirates advised affected passengers to contact their travel agent or booking office for assistance rebooking flights following the ban on December 25.

Tunisia's Ennahda party - part of the governing coalition - also has links to Qatar, which has been cut off by the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain over its alleged support for terrorism.
