Google even went as far as to say that ad blocker use because of bad ads is threatening the sustainability of the web ecosystem.

Ads are the primary source of revenue for online publishers.

The native ad blocker that Google has built into its Chrome browser will get to work starting February 15, 2018, the search giant confirmed today. By doing this, Google will be able to root out "bad or aggressive" ads thanks to the guidelines that are put in place by the Coalition.

Google Chrome to Start Blocking Ads Natively on February 15

The CFBA announced its Better Ads Experience Program on Monday. It's banned all full-page ad interstitials, ads that unexpectedly play sound, and flashing ads, and this week announced the Better Ads Experience Program, which provides guidelines for companies to improve users' experience with online ads.

It's different from third-party ad blockers that block all ads indiscriminately. Now when know when Google plans to send this ad blocker live, and it turns out that launch is right around the corner. Google can also help you in their Ad Experience Report Help Forum. A handful of publishers rely on annoying and disruptive ads which is why people tend to use ad blockers.

Violations of the Standards are reported to sites via the Ad Experience Report, and site owners can submit their site for re-review once the violations have been fixed. If Google finds that a site is failing to meet the coalition's advertising standards for more than 30 days, Chrome will remove all ads from that site. Examples of ads that are considered intrusive by the organisation include pages that require you to wait for X seconds before displaying the content, auto-playing videos and sounds, large sticky ads and pop-ups, among others.
