  • New Facebook face recognition tools to help you manage identity

This morning, Facebook announced that it's going to start scanning all the photos uploaded to the social network looking for your face, unless you opt out-or unless you are a European or Canadian, where privacy law actually limits what Facebook can do with people's faces.

These new features are powered by the same face-recognition technology Facebook uses to suggest friends you might want to tag in photos and videos.

The company will also tell you when anyone - friend or not - uses a photo of you in their profile picture.

You will only be notify if the post was shared with you. Thanks to the technology, people that use screen readers will know who appears in photos that show up in their News Feed, even if people aren't tagged. Although it does not appear to have been implemented yet, Facebook will soon allow users to turn off facial recognition on their accounts with a single switch.

Facebook Inc. announced today that it will begin using its facial recognition technology to recognize users in any picture, whether they are tagged in it or not.

Pakistan Govt Request to Facebook for Restricting Content Rise Sharply
We restricted access in Mexico to 20,506 instances of the video in the first half of 2017. For the first time, Facebook is monitoring intellectual property reports.

Facebook is also using facial recognition to create new tools for those with visual impairments.

The features demonstrate how Facebook is using a trove of facial recognition data, a type of data that has become a key focus for tech titans. The objective of the scanning, according to Facebook, is to alert you if someone has publicly uploaded a photo of you that you don't know about, especially if they are trying to impersonate you.

In addition to improved identity management, Facebook is also introducing a way for people who are visually impaired to know more about who is in the photos they encounter on Facebook.

For users who are not convinced that the multibillion-dollar corporation has their best interests at heart, Facebook is adding a simple on/off button for its facial recognition features, which users can access through their account settings.

Since 2010, face recognition technology has helped bring people closer together on Facebook. The idea is to prevent people from impersonating others on the social network. The post is titled: " Hard Questions: Should I Be Afraid of Face Recognition Technology? .
