  • Trump has spent nearly one out of every three days of his presidency at a family-owned property

Using the occasion to pat himself on the back, Trump told deployed military members via a video conference that they've achieved more progress in Afghanistan and against the Islamic State group under his watch than had been made in years of the previous administration.

He says everyone has been talking about the progress that has been made in Afghanistan in recent months.

The president continued: Jobs are "coming back, highest Stock Market EVER, Military getting really strong, we will build the WALL, V.A. taking care of our Vets, great Supreme Court Justice, RECORD CUT IN REGS, lowest unemployment in 17 years.!"

"They say we've made more progress against ISIS than they did in years of the previous administration, and that's because I'm letting you do your job", Trump said, in a video call to branches of the USA armed forces.

President Trump will also take time from his holiday to thank troops serving overseas Thursday, calling members of the military in Afghanistan, Iraq, on the USS Monterey, and in Turkey and Bahrain, the White House said. "We want to let you win", Trump said, referencing the Obama administration. They were letting you play even.

Trump's Thanksgiving activities could include family time, along with golf, at either his Jupiter or West Palm Beach clubs.

Trump made multiple references to how the USA military is faring under his administration compared to how it had fared under former President Obama.

"We're doing well at home".

"I always say make ours a little bit better, keep about 10 percent in the bag, because nobody has what we have", Trump said. "And hopefully we'll get that and then you're really going to see things happen", he said. "An ally can turn". "So you're fighting for something real, you're fighting for something good". "They weren't letting you win before".

Turning to specific missions, Trump told the Army soldiers in Afghanistan and the Marines in the Middle East that they've been able to achieve success because of the change in presidents in January.
