As expected, former US gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar pleaded guilty Wednesday to seven counts of first-degree criminal conduct, as reported by CNN, having used the power of his position to sexually abuse underage girls. "I agree that now is a time of healing, but it may take them a lifetime of healing while you spend your life behind bars thinking of what you did by taking away their childhood".

Raisman, who recently came forward with her allegations against Nassar, said her decision to appear in the photoshoot wearing a bathing suit does not give anyone the right to victim shame her.

They are calling on Michigan State University, USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic Committee to take action.

Nassar was the longtime team physician for USA Gymnastics with a busy sports-medicine practice at Michigan State University.

In a statement after the plea in court on Wednesday, Vassar's attorneys, Matt Newburg and Shannon Smith, said the "agreement resolves all the charged and uncharged conduct for more than 125 cases now under investigation by the Michigan Attorney General's office".

"I didn't know anything differently", Raisman said, per the New York Post's Mark Moore.

Nassar has been accused of abusing more than 130 women - including Olympic gold medalists Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney.

"You have failed to hold anyone accountable for allowing a pedophile to flourish for decades", she said.

The Michigan criminal cases against Nassar followed reports a year ago in the Indianapolis Star about how USA Gymnastics, which trains Olympians, mishandled complaints about sexual misconduct involving the doctor and coaches. Officials who ignored repeated reports of sexual assaults.

Separately, Nassar is also awaiting sentencing on federal charges of receiving child pornography, possessing child pornography and a charge that he hid and destroyed evidence in the case. "Officials who brushed the victims off as unable to tell the difference between a medical exam and sexual violation".

Nassar's case was part of a wide-ranging scandal which forced the resignation of USA Gymnastics chief Steve Penny in March.

One of the attorneys, John Manly, said the state's attorney general or someone else should conduct an outside investigation of Michigan State, which has been doing an internal review.
