  • CBS suspends Charlie Rose; PBS halts his show after allegations

Kelly's story about Rose came one day after the CBS This Morning anchor was accused of sexual misconduct, including groping and lewd remarks, by eight women in a Washington Post report.

Rose was a co-host of "CBS This Morning" alongside Norah O'Donnell and Gayle King, who reacted to the news this morning on the show.

Rose since been fired by CBS and suspended from PBS and Bloomberg broadcast.

Rose did not immediately respond to request for comment from TheWrap. "That is why we have taken these actions", CBS News president David Rhodes said in the internal memo. Some of the accounts are lurid, alleging Rose would travel with some of the women or invite them to work at his house, and then try to lure them to see him while he showered or otherwise approach them in a sexual manner.

Rose, King said, "doesn't get a pass, because I can't stop thinking about the anguish of these women. that and the pain that they're going through". Three women-Reah Bravo, a former intern and producer; Kyle Godfrey-Ryan, an assistant to Rose; and Megan Creydt, a show coordinator-went on the record describing a string of similar incidents that included inappropriate touching, talking, and even walking around naked in front of them. Both PBS and CBS suspended him.

Trump blasts Hillary Clinton for questioning legitimacy of election result
She suggested that she believes the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians, something Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team has been investigating but the president has flatly denied.

Rose joins a lengthening list of media figures who have lost jobs because of workplace behaviour, including Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, Fox host Bill O'Reilly, NBC News political reporter Mark Halperin and National Public Radio news chief Michael Oreskes. It wasn't until the Post story that PBS said it knew about Rose's actions. "I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate", Rose said in a statement". Kelly confirmed this in Settle for More, which detailed his alleged inappropriate behavior.

Five other women who didn't want to identify themselves out of fear of Rose's power in the industry gave similar stories, including how he frequently gave unwanted shoulder rubs, touched them on the legs, and in one case groped the buttocks of a female.

"This is a moment that demands a frank and honest assessment about where we stand and more generally the safety of women", she said. Rose, 75, is also a co-host of CBS This Morning and a contributing correspondent for 60 Minutes.

"It takes a lot of courage for these women to come forward", O'Donnell said. "I am greatly embarrassed".
