The win comes 17 years after Priyanka Chopra brought home the coveted title in the year 2000.
Haryana girl Manushi Chillar on Saturday was crowned as the Miss World 2017 at the contest held in the Sanya City Arena, China. Mexico's Andrea Meza was the second runner-up while England's Stephanie was awarded first runner-up. Her father, Dr Mitrabasu Chhillar, is an endocrinologist at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), Delhi, and mother, Dr Neelam Chhillar, is a doctor at the Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences (IHBAS), Delhi.
Manushi Chillar is a 20 years old trained Kuchipudi dancer trained under legendary dancers Kaushalya Reddy and Raja and Radha Reddy.
Manushi, who originally belongs to Bamnoli village in Haryana's Jhajjar district and is a third-year MBBS student at BPS Medical College for Women, Khanpur Kalan, in Sonepat, wants to be a cardiac surgeon. Manushi was also a part of the National School of Drama.
In the competition, Chhillar had responded to the question 'Which profession in the world deserves the highest salary and why?' by saying, "My mother has been my biggest inspiration, so I have to say, a mother's job". It's not always about cash but also the love and respect that we give to someone. Mother should get highest respect.

Manushi, who was also the victor of Miss India 2017, made it through a total of 108 contestants to bag the coveted title.
Chhillar was handed the crown by last year's victor, Stephanie del Valle of Puerto Rico, at the ceremony in the Chinese coastal city of Sanya on Saturday night.
