TransCanada issued a statement Thursday afternoon after the Keystone Pipeline leaked approximately 210,000 gallons in South Dakota.

The pipeline from Hardisty, Alberta, to Cushing, Oklahoma, and to Wood River and Patoka in IL, has been shut, while the southern leg of the system to the Gulf Coast remains operational, the company said.

Crews shut down the pipeline about 6 a.m., according to the company's website, after a drop in pressure was detected in its operating system resulting from an oil leak that is under investigation.

Crews shut down the pipeline Thursday morning and officials are investigating the cause of the leak. The Keystone XL pipeline has been opposed by environmental and Native American groups since it was proposed past year. It will be the last of three states to make a decision on the pipeline's proposed route.

Keystone carries crude from the oil sands in Canada to refineries in IL and Texas, and to a distribution center in Oklahoma.

GameStop temporarily halts the new PowerPass rental subscriptions
PowerPass has undergone a soft launch since its reveal in October with a full public launch slated to occur on November 19. That means any in-store advertisements for PowerPass have been removed and put in storage until further notice.

The company says that it is providing state and federal regulators "with accurate and confirmed information on an ongoing basis".

What is sometimes called the Keystone 1 pipeline went into operation in 2010 and has a daily capacity of about 590,000 barrels of tar sands crude oil from western Canada.

The 210,000-gallon spill occurred on private agricultural land in Marshall County, northeast of Aberdeen.

Keystone XL, if built, would cut diagonally through South Dakota. The project has been delayed for several years and was revived this year through an executive order by President Trump.

TransCanada is seeking approval from the Nebraska Public Service Commission for the final section of a second pipeline project, the Keystone XL.
