The United Nations had warned that a total blockade could cause a starvation that could kill millions in Yemen, where 2-1/2 years of war has killed at least 10,000 people and unleashed starvation and disease in the already impoverished country.

A Saudi-led alliance has lifted a blockade of two key airports in Yemen, broadcaster Al Arabiya reported, amid warnings that millions in the war-torn country could starve without deliveries of food aid.

The move came after Saudi Arabia intercepted a missile fired towards Riyadh, which it blamed on Tehran.

Al-Hamini further pointed to the brutal attacks by the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen's defenseless people and said that Yemenis believe that "firing missile at the aggressors is their right".

"In this case we can target oil tankers".

The Huthis continue to control the capital Sanaa and much of Yemen's north.

Saudi Arabia and its allies intervened in neighbouring Yemen in March 2015, with the stated aim of rolling back Huthi rebel gains and restoring the government of President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi to power.

Al Masirah said the decision to threaten coalition vessels was taken after a meeting of naval officials who had discussed the possible response to the closure of Yemeni ports.

The conflict has created a humanitarian catastrophe in the country.

Iran denies it supplies arms to the Houthis but has said the missile was a reaction to Saudi "aggression".

According to defenseworld.net, the announcement comes after Saudi air defense forces reported that they had intercepted a ballistic missile in midair that was sacked from Yemen over northern Riyadh.

The government-held southern Yemeni port of Aden was reopened on Wednesday, but ports in Houthi-held areas are still shut.
