Two students badly injured in vehicle attack in France, local media reports

  • A man has driven into a group of students near the south-western French city of Toulouse injuring three

The person was not on a security watch list and had minor offenses, mostly drug-related, police said.

At least three people were injured after a vehicle rammed into passers-by in Blagnac commune near Toulouse, southwest France.

The crash took place in front of Saint-Exupery high school in the suburb of Blagnac. The interior ministry said the students were lightly injured; BFM reported that two were in serious condition.

The Mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc took to Twitter and said: "Very shocked by the aggression against the students in Blagnac".

France has experienced a rash of vehicular terror attacks inspired by the Islamic State group, but there has been no immediate confirmation of the driver's identity or motive. Also injured were a 22-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man.

French police told media outlets the vehicle ramming appeared to be deliberate, but the 28-year-old suspect did not show up on a security watch list.
