Deadline reports the company is developing new TV shows for their upcoming digital streaming service. In addition, fans can expect a live-action Star Wars show, an unnamed Marvel series, and shows based on Monsters Inc. and High School Musical.

Iger, who last month confirmed he would step down as chairman and CEO in 2019, also revealed Disney has secured a deal with Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson to create a new feature film trilogy set in the Star Wars universe.

In August, Disney announced it would acquire a majority share in the BamTech media company to help launch both streaming services.

News that there will be a whole new "Star Wars" trilogy sent the internet rippling, and the films are no doubt expected to be blockbusters unless audiences start to feel Lucasfilm fatigue - which they haven't, so far.

Disney's new on demand streaming service will be "substantially" cheaper than Netflix and will launch new Star Wars and Marvel series, according to chief executive Bob Iger.

Google to Estimate Wait Times for Local Restaurants
This will be rolling out as part of the popular times feature, which has been available in Maps and Search for quite some time. But unlike Google , NoWait also lets you put your name on the list for those restaurants that don't take reservations.

During a fourth-quarter earnings call on Thursday, Iger hinted at certain details of the two services, with the ESPN channel launching in the Spring of 2018.

Disney plans an aggressive marketing campaign for the channel by pushing the service to its Disney-branded credit card holders, annual Disney park pass holders, members of D23, owners of Disney vacation club units and frequent visitors to the six Disney parks. The company's name has also become a verb ("Netflix and chill"), a sign that while its position might seem available to disruption, it is actually an entrenched consumer preference.

ESPN continued to lose subscribers in its fiscal fourth quarter ended September 30 while programming costs for sports rights rose and advertising revenue declined.

Media networks revenues in the quarter fell by 3 percent to $5.5 billion, with operating income down 12 percent to $1.5 billion. The brand is strong, the quality of their programming is strong.

It also saw subscriber losses. Their stocks shot up after the initial news, and to date Disney is up 7% while Fox stocks have gone up a whopping 18% in the past few days. Disney shares are up almost 7% so far this week, mostly on the reported Fox talks.
