Qualcomm accuses Apple of sharing proprietary information with Intel

  • Apple looking beyond Qualcomm for smartphone components

An Intel engineer was allegedly copied on the email, according to Bloomberg, which was the first to report on the lawsuit.

Instead, future phones may be packed with chips from Qualcomm rivals Intel and MediaTek. The Cupertino firm might not completely drop Qualcomm for now, but it's certainly a possibility.

Apple in the past used only Qualcomm modem chips for iPhones, but started also procuring the chips from Intel for its iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models previous year.

These are but new chapters in a long series of unfortunate events.

Alvaro Morata admits he wishes he'd never left Juventus
The second is the environment as I have been very well welcomed by my teammates. "They treated me like the kid I was before the two seasons in Italy ".

However, Apple has now cut off those payments, costing Qualcomm an estimated $2 billion a year in revenue. In July, Qualcomm filed a complaint with the United States International Trade Commission alleging that Apple has infringed on six Qualcomm patents that "enabled important features and functions in iPhones". Qualcomm has tried to ban the sale of select iPhones in the U.S., and has also begun an attempt to get iPhone sales banned in China. When making the request, Apple sent out a message that CC'd an Intel engineer. Qualcomm sent the same response to TechRadar, but referenced the WSJ's question. Qualcomm reckons that Apple used this access to help Intel in its quest to compete in the LTE modem market. "Qualcomm's wireless solutions remain the gold standard for premium tier smartphones". Apple has accused its chip supplier of unfairly charging companies for using products from other manufacturers.

Are you planning to line up for an iPhone X tomorrow?

Qualcomm's fight with Apple has taken another turn, as the company has filed yet another lawsuit.

With all of that uncertainty on the table, it's probable we'll have to wait another generation before we finally see a Qualcomm-free iPhone (if, of course, we ever do). In a Reuters reports, sources confirm that this is the case and that the devices that will not feature any of Qualcomm's components will be released as early as 2018. We also contacted Apple, but did not receive a response.
