Mueller was appointed special counsel in May, shortly after the firing of then-FBI Director James Comey, to look into allegations that the Trump campaign might have colluded with Russian Federation to win the election. He says Democrats are using - in his words - a "witch hunt" for "evil politics" and adds that Republicans are "fighting back like never before".
His tweets followed a CNN report that a federal grand jury in Washington has approved the first charges in the criminal investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller. The network reported that the charges are sealed under a federal judge's order.
A US official with firsthand knowledge of the process tells N.B.C news that Robert Mueller's office of the special counsel will make public an indictment on Monday.
CNN first reported late Friday that at least one charge in the federal Russian Federation probe could become public as soon as Monday - though it remains unclear who would be charged or with that. Mueller took the reins of a federal investigation that Comey first opened in July 2016 in the middle of the presidential campaign.
Bears lose Zach Miller to gruesome leg injury on negated touchdown
Despite two lost fumbles by Mark Ingram , the Black and Gold defense kept the Bears in-check. During the 2017 campaign so far, Miller caught 20 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns.
U.S. special counsel Robert Mueller has charged at least one person in the sprawling probe over Russian interference in last year's presidential vote, marking the start of a new judicial phase. Subpoenas have also been issued in connection with a handful of other Trump associates linked to Manafort, as well as those related to a meeting in Trump Tower between members of the campaign and a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer.
CNN, citing sources, said that an arrest could happen Monday. The former national security adviser was sacked after misleading Vice President Pence about his contacts with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak before Trump took office. "Then HE should be investigated".
And Sen. Angus King, a ME independent who caucuses with Democrats, said on CNN that Mueller's first charges will be "really just the beginning". Bob Corker, R-Tenn., a frequent critic of the president, said on CBS' "Face the Nation". NBC News later confirmed reports of a Monday indictment.
