  • Tiger Woods announces return to competitive golf, will play in Hero World Challenge after back surgery and DUI arrest

Tiger Woods plans to play his first round of competitive golf in nine months November 30 at the Hero World Challenge in Albany, Bahamas, the golfer announced Monday.

Woods, who has missed significant time after multiple back surgeries, last played in February at the Dubai Desert Classic but withdrew after an opening-round 77 due to back spasms.

Tiger Woods is making his return to competitive golf at an event where he's enjoyed much success in the past. Woods has previously won the event, which he hosts and is a benefit for his charity, five times.

His fourth back surgery came in April and he has only started hitting shots this month.

"Albany is the flawless setting and it will be great to join this outstanding field", Woods said. The 14-times major victor underwent a fourth back operation in three years in April and his agent, Mark Steinberg, said this month that he had been cleared to resume full golf activity following a check-up with his surgeon.
