Colin Kaepernick, the NFL player at the forefront of protests that have swept the league and raised the ire of President Trump, has signed a book deal, Page Six reported.

Ideally, Kaepernick's book will focus less on the anthem debate and more on the astounding good work he's done since he opted out of his National Football League contract past year.

Ever since last fall, Kaepernick has been the face of the resistance when he vowed to kneel during the National Anthem to raise awareness around police brutality and racial injustice in this country.

Kaepernick hasn't fielded questions publicly since his final game with the 49ers last January.

Since his initial kneeling stance past year, several more NFL players have knelt or raised a fist during the national anthem in protest against the same issues Kaepernick was trying to bring attention to.

Kid Rock tells Howard Stern he's not running for Senate
That includes being booed by the crowd at the Detroit Pistons home opener, while the area's other music star, Eminem, was cheered. That's according to an interview Tuesday morning on Howard Stern's radio show, reported by our sister station, WXYZ in Detroit .

While it's unclear how the league could allow Kaepernick back into the NFL while he has a collusion case filed against them.

The first meeting took place on October 17, where it was expected that owners would come away with a new rule to require players to stand for the national anthem.

"If the NFL (as well as all professional sports leagues) is to remain a meritocracy, then principled and peaceful political protest-which the owners themselves made great theater imitating weeks ago-should not be punished and athletes should not be denied employment based on partisan political provocation by the Executive Branch of our government".

However, commissioner Roger Goodell did take a stance on the national anthem in a press conference afterward, saying, "We believe everyone should stand for the national anthem, it's an important part of our game".

Kaepernick's campaign began previous year, but reached a fever pitch when President Trump weighed in recently on Twitter.
