  • Donald Trump Claims Increased UK Crime Is Due To Islamic Terror

Donald Trump started his Friday out by falsely claiming the United Kingdom was in the midst of a crime-wave thanks to "radical Islamic terror" - prompting fury from British politicians.

Donald Trump can't seem to stop tweeting about terror in the U.K. This time, he weighed in on a dense 33-page statistics document, extrapolated a single crime number and linked it to "radical Islamic terror".

The ONS report stated: 'The 13% increase in police recorded crime from previous year, reflects a range of factors including continuing improvements to crime recording and genuine increases in some crime categories, especially those that are well-recorded'.

"We have to keep an eye on this risk and find a fitting concept to combat it", BfV chief, Hans-Georg Maassen, said in a statement Thursday.

The report does not mention Islam.

Figures released Thursday show that police forces in England and Wales registered 5.2 million criminal offenses in the 12 months through June - a 13 percent increase over the previous year. There has also been a 29 percent rise in hate crimes. It excluded the 35 people killed in the London and Manchester terrorist attacks, and the 96 Hillsborough deaths in 1989 - a decision reflecting the rarity of the tragic incidents.

Akombe urged Kenyans to remember the violence that followed a disputed 2007 poll, when more than 1,200 people were killed. Roselyne Akombe spoke Wednesday from NY but it was not clear if she had fled there.

The statistics show that in the year ending June 2017, of the 664 homicides in England and Wales, 35 were caused by the London and Manchester terror attacks.

The ONS said police had recorded 5.2m offences in the year to June, ranging from gun crime, knife crime, robberies, sexual offences, stalking and harassment, burglary and auto crime.

There is also the question of how much police cuts have affected the surge in crime in the U.K.Under successive Conservative governments, the number of police officers in England in Wales has fallen by close to 20,000 from 2010, including 1,300 fewer Authorized Firearms Officers (AFOs) - the small percentage of United Kingdom police who routinely carry guns.
