The Met Office has extended its yellow warning for wind to the whole of the southern and western coast of England from 4am on Saturday, with south-westerly areas thought to be among the worst affected. We expect winds of 80mph perhaps stronger in coastal regions and although these might not be as strong as Ophelia it is important to note that many trees may have been weakened earlier in the week.

After a few seconds of strong gusts, the winds die down for a moment, allowing the waterfall to begin flowing regularly at the end of the video.

A status orange weather warning has been put in place by Met √Čireann across seven Irish counties for tonight, as Storm Brian is expected to make landfall.

It warned some coastal areas in the United Kingdom could be affected by large waves, with the potential for flooding. Some transport disruption is likely across the warning area, with delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport.

Friday night will bring strong winds up to 120km/h along the south coast, while further north heavy reain will develop.

'Ecological Armageddon': Warnings from Scientists as Flying Insects Disappear
In the study, researchers conducted a "census" 60 nature reserves created in Germany over the past century. The annual average fell by 76 percent over the 27 year period.

The meteorological phenomenon is due to calm somewhat in the Atlantic before it reaches land.

(Picture: Gareth Fuller/PA Wire) Chief Forecaster Dan Suri said: 'Storm Brian is expected to bring strong south or southwesterly winds to much of Wales and southern and western England from early Saturday. "The winds will be accompanied by heavy, possibly thundery showery rain", they state.

Despite Storm Aileen hitting the United Kingdom last month, and Ophelia earlier this week, Brian is the second, rather than third named storm of the year, as Ophelia was named as a hurricane.

Batten down the hatches, Storm Brian is on the way. It's a moving depression rather than a hurricane.

"Rain, in the south this morning, will become widespread this afternoon with hill and coastal fog also", reads an update on their website. "I don't think it will hit Ireland as hard as it will hit the United Kingdom".
